    What is InTouch?

     

    In Touch is a job search service for all Training For Life learners, who wish to find work or who wish to progress onto other programmes or courses, that help build the knowledge, experience and skills to find employment.

     

    InTouch is also a place where you can access learning materials for your programme or course, talk to each other online and keep updated with the latest workshops or events even after you’ve left Training For Life. 

     

    If you’re looking for work we offer:

    • Information, Advice and Guidance to support you to find the job you want.
    • CV writing – so that you can create a new CV or update and improve your existing version.
    • Interview Skills – learn how to succeed at interviews.  Gain practical experience and valuable feedback on the best interview style for you. 
    • Job Application Forms & Covering Letters – just book time with your InTouch advisor and get help in completing your application form and all important covering letter.
    • Job Search – use our computers to access employment websites.
    • Mentoring – mentors offer guidance, support and encouragement to Training For Life mentees to develop the competence and character to help learners find and keep the job they want.
    • Career Coaching – get valuable 1-1 time with a coach to support you in overcoming any fears and internal barriers you may have about finding work such as “I’m not good at interviews” or if you just feel stuck when looking for work.

     In Addition to this InTouch also offers:

     

    • Debt Advice – Financial Awareness training is offered to support you in overcoming debt.  Although we cannot pay off your debts, we can offer you basic support or refer you organisation that can help to keep the bailiffs away.
    • Benefits Advice & Referral Service for Apprentices – If you are a Training For Life or Hoxton Apprentice and you find advice as you may be at risk of homelessness, need to claim more tax credits, have housing benefits concerns, then we are able to offer a service. 
    • If you are not an Apprentice but have these concerns, then please contact InTouch and we will support you where we can or refer you to the appropriate organisation. 
    • If you want to start-up your own business, let us know and we’ll put you in touch with the people who can help you develop your business or business idea.

Available Courses

The European Computer Driving Licence (or ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification for computer users everywhere.

Through it you will gain the confidence, basic skills and knowledge to use computers and a wide range of common IT software packages. What's more you don't need any prior IT knowledge or experience to do it.

The course has been set to run for 20 Weeks on a part-time basis.

Who is the course for?
This course has been designed for people from the local community who need to learn English at elementary/intermediate level and are approaching job readyess

Course Content:

ü      English for Speakers of Other Languages for Elementary and Intermediate

ü      Employability Skills

ü      Intermediate reading and Writing with Computing, Numeracy and the words needed for preparing for Citizenship

Financial Awareness is about getting young people to overcome financial fears and misunderstandings about money. The course is designed to raise awareness about money and eplore common beliefs and attitudes toward money.
Blueprints Additions learning material incorporates facilitator notes and handouts for Training For Life learners at every phase of their Learning Journey.

Engage: Identifying people within their communities and gaining commitment from them to make a positive change in their lives. We run one day sessions or short activity based programmes, including a residential element.

Develop: Increasing people's confidence, motivation and self awareness. We run programmes that encourage people to learn the personal skills they will need to get and keep a job

Prepare: Providing personal learning, work preparation and specific employment training. We run a range of programmes leading to vocational qualifications in particular industries.

Rehearse: Providing work experience in real work environments through apprenticeships in our social enterprises: the Hoxton Apprentice restaurant. Networks For Life or Met@Lambeth gym, or through work placements with our corporate partners.

Progress: Helping people find work or a place in further education or training.

Sustain: Giving on-going support to help our graduates maintain the positive chages they've made to their lives. Encouraging graduates to use their experience to help others.
